Security measures

If you use the Registry, take at least the following measures into account:

  • Make sure that the most recent security updates have been installed on your computer.
  • The internet address of your browser should always with https://co2register.nederlandse-emissieautoriteit.nl.
  • You should always see a 'locked' sign in your internet browser when you enter the Registry.
  • Never follow instructions received by email or telephone to do the following: install certain programs, hand out user name and password or install security certificates.

Maintenance/outages

Maintenance windows of other European registries can be found on the website of the European Commission. If an external transaction is cancelled or stuck in proposed this might be caused by the other registry involved undergoing maintance. In such cases please check this website.

Risk of duplicate transaction

When using the CO2 Emissions Trading Registry, only use the registry buttons. Do not use the browser functions "refresh", "back" and "forward". This saves you from making irreversible mistakes, such as executing a transaction twice.

Risk of wrong account

Please note that two different notations of account numbers are in use. The regular notation is "CC-y-x-0", but the registries listed below use the CCy.x notation. When you initiate a transaction from the Dutch registry, you should always use the "CC-y-x-0" notation. This means you could have to transform the account notation you have been given. Please contact our helpdesk if in doubt. The concerned registries are:

  • Germany
  • France
  • Czech Republic
  • Luxembourg

Also dated contracts for delivery to accounts in the following registries might be affected because they used this notation in the past:

  • Belgium
  • Spain
  • Portugal
